Saturday December 1, 2007 - BANFF, AB.
Tonight downtown Banff paid witness to the now yearly spectacle that is the CP Rail Jam. With a huge 30+ foot high scaffolding drop-in ramp complete with a down box, down-flat-down box, a quarterpipe with wallride and $10,000 in prize cash, it's easy to see the boys and girls at CP Rail meant business this year. After the field of 20 invited riders got cut in half, it was the final showdown and time for business. Source Rider Jed Anderson brought his A-game and ripped some ridiculous stuff that had everyone's jaw dropping (various industry folk in the crowd were quoted as saying "holy, Jed was doing crap I've never seen before!"). Jed's go-to move in the final was a 5050 to Backside 360 to 5-0 on the down-flat-down box, but it wasn't enough to catch Dustin Craven who took home the lion's share of the cash with his full-on destruction of the quarterpipe and wall-ride. Jed still went home happy $3000 richer!
Sunday December 2nd, 2007 - LAKE LOUISE, ALBERTA.
Amidst -20 temperatures, Source riders Dwayne Weibe and Raewyn Reid ended up atop of the podium at the Heavy Metal Rail Jam at Lake Louise today. The course was long and well built featuring 7 possible features including flat bars and boxes, flat-down boxes and even a gutted out old-school gondola car perched atop a volcano. On the men's side, Dwayne Weibe led the heated finals to victory with ridiculous combos like front 3 to 50-50s on the flat bars and a Michael Jackson to back lip on the flat-down box.
Raewyn ended up taking the girl's side with super smooth style and clean tricks. Both were rewarded $300 for their efforts, nice work!

Starting at 8:00pm sharp will be the new DC movie, Moutain Lab 1.5 (not quite two). Coming off the heels of DC's original Mountain Lab movie released in 2005, Mountain Lab 1.5 will feature more ripping at the Lab and some serious rally car jumping/missile jibbing wackiness that made the original such a hit.
Showing at 9:00pm will be the new Whiteout Films movie, Season 4. With clean production and creative editing, the Whiteout crew is back again. Check out banger parts from riders Iikka Backstrom, Lauri Heiskari, Kale Stephens and Devun Walsh who will be in attendance and and drinking Pilsner from the Holy Grail.
Finally at 10:00, the long-awaited epic "Still Bastards" will be airing. A 10 year anniversary of the legendary party epic Lil' Bastards, "Still Bastards" is due for twice the antics, mayhem and craziness!

Guys and Ghouls, this Saturday, October 27th, longboarders from all across the city will unite to shred the streets of Calgary. Slicing and dicing their way through the traffic of 17th ave, and 10th street and everything in between. Candy smashing the desperate pedestrians on the way! The only way to save yourself from this horror is to be the cause of it.
Come meet at Millennium skatepark at noon. There will be a brief meeting (with candy) and then we will flood the streets of Calgary in Critical Mass fashion. ****There will be prizes for best costumes****,
anyone not in costume will be used as a sacrificial offering to one lucky pagan god. If you can afford it please help by bringing candy to throw at people.
LONGBOARDS, SKATEBOARDS, MOUNTAIN BOARDS, DIRTSURFERS, and the odd bicycle if its cool are all welcome. I would say rollerblades but that could be trouble.... See you there!

The Course:
The west maintenance road at CODA's Canada Olympic park makes the Paskapoo Rodeo. This switchback style course runs adjacent to the 1988 Olympic bobsled track and stands approximately 110 meters tall. In the straights, riders reach speeds close to 90km/hr then are thrown into tight technical turns. But just so the crowd doesn't get bored, there are two speed bumps on the downhill course. Once again this hill makes this race!
